Collaboration at Its Best

Together, we’re transforming ideas into real-world solutions. The challenge for POLARIS is to establish a new ecosystem for RF technology by building on the existing ecosystems of industry leaders Philips Healthcare (MRI), NXP (communication), and Thales (radar). Each POLARIS consortium member plays a role, leveraging their expertise and experience in analogue and mixed signals RF technology, from low-TRL research to product manufacturing.

With a clear program focus, POLARIS offers exceptional valorisation opportunities for its participants, driven by a strong synergy between technology push and application pull. The new technologies developed will enable a seamless transition to a unified ecosystem where each member integrates naturally.

New organisations can enter the consortium as the new technology will have spin-offs for new applications and open new opportunities for new products and improvements on existing products.

Partnering in POLARIS

Collaboration across the RF value chain

POLARIS brings together leading companies, universities, and research institutes to develop
the next generation of RF systems. From early-stage research to real-world applications, organisations collaborate across the full value chain:

Materials → Chips → Packaging → Systems

Together, we are building an ecosystem where technology development, system integration,
and application needs come together to create real impact.

Collaboration at its best

The challenge for POLARIS is to establish a new, integrated RF ecosystem, building on
strong existing domains such as:

  • MRI (healthcare systems)
  • Radar (defense and sensing)
  • Communication (wireless connectivity)

Each organisation contributes its own expertise in analogue and mixed-signal RF technology,
ranging from low-TRL research to product development and manufacturing.
What makes POLARIS unique is the strong connection between:

  • technology push (research and innovation)
  • application pull (real-world system needs)

This creates a powerful environment for valorisation and long-term impact.

A growing ecosystem

POLARIS is not a closed consortium. It is a growing ecosystem, designed to evolve over time and to include new participants, new expertise, and new opportunities. As new technologies emerge, they create:

  • new applications
  • new business opportunities
  • new collaboration needs

This is why POLARIS actively expands its ecosystem, in a structured and accessible way.

How organizations participate in POLARIS

POLARIS offers different ways to engage, depending on your role and level of involvement.

Consortium Partners

Consortium partners form the core of POLARIS. They:

  • define and execute research activities
  • contribute to the program structure and direction
  • collaborate across program lines (Research, Valorisation, Ecosystem, Human Capital)

These Consortium Partners operate under formal agreements and are directly involved in delivering the
program.

Subcontractors

Subcontractors are organizations that contribute to specific activities within POLARIS.
They:

  • work on defined innovation challenges (white spots)
  • are contracted through existing Consortium Partners
  • contribute targeted expertise to accelerate development

This enables POLARIS to bring in additional capabilities where needed.

Subcontractors can be Associate Partners of Polaris.

Associate Partners (ASPA)

Associate Partners are organizations connected to the POLARIS ecosystem without Immediately being part
of the formal consortium.

This model provides a low-threshold entry point into POLARIS.

As an Associate Partner, you can:

  • connect with ecosystem partners
  • stay informed about developments
  • explore collaboration opportunities
  • engage with identified “white spots”

Associate Partner status is intentionally lightweight and accessible. It does not provide direct access to funding, intellectual property, or confidential information, but it creates a clear pathway into future collaboration.

Licensees (future)

In the future, POLARIS will also support the valorisation of technologies through licensing.
Licensees will:

  • use POLARIS-developed technologies
  • bring innovations to market
  • contribute to economic and societal impact

From connection to collaboration

POLARIS is designed to support a natural progression:

Connect → Explore → Collaborate → Create impact

Organizations can start as Associate Partner, engage with opportunities, and grow into deeper collaboration when relevant.

This flexible model ensures that the ecosystem remains:

  • open
  • dynamic
  • focused on impact

Join the ecosystem

POLARIS continues to grow. If your organization is active in RF technology or related domains, there are multiple ways to get involved.
